‘Tis the season for giving and to all a Merry Christmas this week. I hope everyone will be able to enjoy some egg nog and ham while spending time with family unwrapping gifts. 2013 has been quite a year for music including Hip-Hop and I decided to present a few mixtapes that were great, but slightly fell under the radar during the year-end awards. These projects vary in sound, region, and themes, but all are pretty fucking solid cohesive bodies of work. Without further ado, I give to you the Super 8.

WoW, it’s been awhile since I’ve written on my own little skip of a blog here. I’ve been busy with things, among those including a dead laptop, graduating college, and now working a few jobs. I wouldn’t be surprised if readers thought I died off and it kinda felt like it. But now I’m here to talk about a few rap songs I have enjoyed immensely within the past month of so. In the world of Hip-Hop, 2012 has brought a vast array of eclectic and cohesive projects that will receive continuous spins for years to come. Amidst fanfare of current releases from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Nas, and Rick Ross, a slew of equally impressive albums had made waves through quality though not as much recognition. Here I present eight various albums and mixtapes that produced a body of work capable of even outshining most of the major releases of this year. A lot of these works have been often overlooked (or downright ignored when they shouldn’t) and require a listen or two…or three. Merry Christmas y’all.
